Well, this is it! Next week will be the start of the first ever EURYPAA, and you are going to be a part of it! Thank you, in advance, for making this a truly worldwide fellowship event!
The EURYPAA conference runs 23-25 July, at München Brewery, Södermalm Island, Stockholm, Sweden. A pre-conference Program Packet as a simple pdf file was emailed to all who pre-registered. If you would like a copy, email info@eurypaa.org. And below we have some introductory information that may be useful as you travel to Sweden. (The information below is not a repeat of the Program Packet, so please read over everything.)
We do not have contact information for everyone attending EURYPAA. Pass this on to anyone you know is coming, or thinking of coming, to Stockholm next week!
Welcome to EURYPAA!

WEATHER IN STOCKHOLM
It is a gorgeous, hot, long summer in Stockholm. While no one can guarantee the weather, recently it has been in the high 20's to mid-30's celcius (high 80's to mid-90's farenheit).
GETTING TO THE CITY FROM THE AIRPORTS
From Arlanda Airport there is the express train Arlanda Express, or several busses, which is the less expensive alternative. For Skavsta Airport there are busses. Visit the airport websites for information on getting to and from the airport.
Arlanda: http://www.arlanda.se/en/Information--s ... e-airport/
Skavsta: http://www.skavsta.se/en/airport/
Bromma: http://www.brommaairport.se/en/Bromma/T ... e-airport/
CURRENCY / EXCHANGE RATE
The currency in Sweden is the kronor (kr). Most recent exchange rate was approximately 10.00kr = €0.91 = $1.33. At EURYPAA we prefer kronor, but will accept dollars ($) and euro (€) at a convenience rate of 10.00kr = €1.00 = $1.50. This is to cover the bank fees we will pay for exchange after the conference and rounding up to make math easier.
WHAT TIME IS IT?
It's EURYPAA time! Actually, Stockholm is one hour ahead of GMT. Everything is listed in the standard 24:hour clock in Sweden. So, for example, 9:00 is 9:00am, and 21:00 is 9:00pm.
GOOGLE MAP - UPDATED!
The Map for EURYPAA 2010 has been updated with the new location of the Sunday 4:17 Sunrise Meeting -- an extraordinary panoramic outlook over Stockholm. While you might think the points seem far apart, Stockholm is easy to get around, and with Sweden's gorgeous, long summer days, everything is relatively walking distance. Click http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... 2&t=h&z=14 for the updated EURYPAA map.
EURYPAA 2010 SOUVENIRS
The EURYPAA Store at the conference will have the EURYPAA 2010 T-shirt, Swedish medallion, Carabiner, USB of the conference recordings, and Raffle Tickets (with the prize being a trip to EURYPAA 2011). All proceeds go to support the EURYPAA conference, so be sure to pick something up so your friends back home can feel a part of the first EURYPA.
EURYPAA SCHEDULE
A simple pre-conference Program Packet is available by emailing info@eurypaa.org. Everyone will get an official program when you check-in at EURYPAA on Friday. We will be busy setting up for the conference all day on Friday. If you want to help, you are welcome, but please let us know you are coming by emailing our Service Coordinators at eurypaa.service@gmail.com. Otherwise EURYPAA opens with Registration and our Café at 15:00 on Friday, 23 July! There are a few kick-start meetings late Friday afternoon, and then the main Opening Meeting and Around-the-World Roll Call will be at 19:00. Don't miss it! Saturday the conference space opens at 8:00 and we have meetings and programming all day, through to the Main Meeting at 18:00 when we will have the group conscience to select the Host City for EURYPA 2011! Sunday we again open at 8:00 and we have more wonderful meetings and programming through to the Closing Meeting and Sobriety Countdown at noon. For those making travel plans, the closing meeting should end by 14:00.
BEFORE & AFTER EURYPAA
Before the EURYPAA conference we encourage you to join us at the many A.A. meetings in the city. Stockholm has meetings in Swedish, English, Finnish, Russian, Polish, Spanish and Lithuanian. For international A.A. meetings in Sweden visit http://www.aa.se/information-om-aa/info ... n-english/ or email service@aa.se. After the closing meeting of EURYPAA we will take a moment to clean-up the conference and return München Brewery to order, and then there will be an evening post-conference social event (aka After-Party). Details to be announced.
MEDIA AT EURYPAA
Being the first ever All-Europe Young People in A.A. conference has generated a considerable amount of interest from the media. We are of course delighted with media's interest in sharing our stories of recovery and fellowship, as that may reach an untold number of alcoholics around the world. We have asked that any media attending EURYPAA check in at Registration so that we may give them an identifying badge. Also, individual interaction with any media is a personal choice, we only remind everyone to always keep true to our Tradition of anonymity at the level of press, radio and film. Please do not allow yourself to be photographed in an identifiable manner and use only first names. You assistance helps ensure A.A. principles stay before personalities.
FELLOWSHIP
Friday Night Sunset Concert from München Brewery ~ Saturday Night Disco on The Rock; disco, barbecue, midnight swim from Stockholm's historic jailhouse island Långholmen ~ Yoga ~ Guided Meditation ~ Walk through Old Town ~ After-Party ~ and more! All the events at EURYPAA are open for everyone -- bring 'em to the party!
JOIN THE EURYPAA 2011 COMMITTEE
At this time we know of a number of cities that are either planning to invite to host EURYPAA 2011, or are serious thinking about putting in an invitation. If you are interested in helping any or all of these cities prepare for EURYPAA 2011, should the group conscience on Saturday night choose their city, email us at info@eurypaa.org. I will pass on your willingness to help with EURYPAA 2011 to any or all of these cities (just be sure to state which cities in your email). The cities thinking of EURYPAA 2011 are Dublin, Ireland; London, United Kingdom; Vilnius, Lithuania; and Copenhagen, Denmark.
LAST MINUTE TRAVEL
It is never too late to come to EURYPAA. Pack a car-full from your meeting and hit the broad highway to Stockholm and the 4th dimension! Or, if you don't want to drive, there are a lot of great last-minute deals on air travel. Visit the EURYPAA bulletin board at http://forum.eurypaa.org/ for information on Travel and Accommodations.
SERVICE KEEPS US SOBER
Simply put, we need everyone to help with service. If you are willing and able to help with registration, cafe, set-up, or especially our clean-up Dream Team, email eurypaa.service@gmail.com. Give an hour or two of your time and help us make this first EURYPAA conference a huge success!
AL-ANON APPEAL
We are thrilled to have Al-Anon/Alateen participating in EURYPAA. And they need your support. If you, or someone you know, is in Al-Anon or Alateen, email eurypaa.alanon@gmail.com today! They are eager to have more international participation, so spread the word!
This should be the last email blast from us before EURYPAA. See you next week in Stockholm!
In love & service,
Jay G.
